MEET THE EXECUTIVE SCIENCE TEAM

Filip Sulc, Ph.D.

President/CEO

Filip Sulc assumed the role of CEO in 2014, following the retirement of his father and company founder, Jiri Sulc, PhD. He joined the company in 2006 and directed the Company’s ocular polymer and colorant R&D projects as well as  development  and  implementation  of process improvements for two commercial products.

Dr. Filip Sulc received his PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine. His work focused on protein interactions with small molecules, their immobilization and characterization. Other projects focused on protein crystallography, NMR, spectrophotometry, electrochemistry, and spectroelectrochemistry. He is a contributing author of  nine publications and six presentations.

Robert Sulc, Ph.D.

Vice President - Research & Development and Quality Assurance

Robert Sulc has 10+ years of experience in polymer research. He aided in the development of new materials, including materials for ultrafiltration, photolithography and molecular imprinted polymers  (plastic  antibody).  He  has  background  in  both  physical  and  chemical polymer characterization and, during his tenure at Bio-Edge, has contributed to the discovery and development of several novel polymer products, including scale-up to a multi 100kg production process.

Dr. Robert Sulc received a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with focus on polymers from the University of California, Irvine. Additionally, he has a B.S. in Biology to compliment his chemistry degrees. He was a post-doctoral Fellow in the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory as part of Intel’s Molecules for Advanced Patterning (MAP) program; a Marie Curie International Training Network Fellow at the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany, for molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) related to molecular purifications for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs); and an EU research network project Fellow at the Universität Duisburg-Essen, Germany, focusing on formulation and characterization of ultra-purification membranes. Dr. Sulc is the author of six research articles, 18 presentations, and a co-inventor on one patent.

Allen Seligson, Ph.D.

Director - Research & Development and Quality Assurance

Allen Seligson has 20+ years of experience in small molecule and polymer research for the development of therapeutics, imaging agents and medical devices. Dr. Seligson has participated  and  managed  teams  in  discovery,  lead  optimization,  non-clinical assessment, process development, as well as early-stage US and EU regulatory filings and cGMP/Quality System implementation.

Previous to joining Bio-Edge, Dr. Seligson served as Vice President of Research and Development   at Biophysica, Inc., where he was a major contributor to the discovery and advancement of three new molecular entities into clinical trials utilizing a combination of in-house, collaborative and outsourced development strategies.

Dr. Seligson received his Ph.D. in Inorganic/Organometallic Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego and was a joint post-doctoral Fellow in both the Chemistry Department of the University of California, Berkeley and the Material Science Department of Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. He is the author of 36 original research articles/presentations and is a co-inventor on eight patents.
